Our mission is to preserve and protect the true teachings and philosophy of Goju Ryu Karate Do through knowledge passed down from master to student. This is the tradition of the Bubishi Masters Degree.

West Australian Goju Ryu Karate Do promotes development in all aspects of Traditional and Sport Karate including: Fitness, weight loss, self defence, self confidence, self respect, motivation, co-ordination, The Ideals of Loyalty, respect and honour.

Why WAGR karate?

At WAGR you will find an all round and exciting approach to fitness, self-defense and karate. With many different types of students there are many different benefits. Some students, particularly our young members, find large benefits from increased co-ordination. Some members find benefits from increased fitness and flexibility. Others enjoy the social aspect or the ability to feel comfortable in knowing they can defend themselves.

 Self-Defence

A large number of people participate in Martial arts for self-defense. At WAGR we teach you to be confident in defending yourself in any situation, not just a specific situation, no matter what your built. Many instructors teach techniques ’if this happens’ or ‘that happens’ what if it is different? It more than likely will be. That is why WAGR teaches you to be flexible, to improvise and most of all feel confident.

Our story

Story

Testing or evaluation is important to martial artists of many disciplines who wish to determine their progression or own level of skill in some specific contexts.

Various forms and sparring are commonly used in martial art exhibitions and tournaments. Some competitions pit practitioners of different disciplines against each other.

Full-contact sparring or competition, where strikes are not pulled but thrown with full force as the name implies, has a number of differences from light contact sparring.

Martial arts have crossed over into sports when forms of sparring become competitive, becoming a sport in its own right that is dissociated from the original combative origin.

Martial arts training aims to result in several benefits to trainees, such as their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Spiritually-oriented and health-oriented.
